Chopta valley

At a distance of one and half hour drive from Lachen, lies Chopta Valley with its virgin appeal. Located adjacent to Thangu Village, this valley at 13000 feet, is one of the few accessible places in Sikkim, where you can walk over the frozen river during winter. During spring, the valley sets ablaze with the riot of colours, as the entire valley floor becomes carpeted with beautiful alpine flowers, which starts blooming from early April and beautifies the valley up to July. When the Sky opens up during autumn, you will find yourself lost among the snow-capped mountain. Finally, in winter, the valley gets replaced by snow which continues from December and remains covered until late March.
