You must visit the Namgyal Research Institute of Tibetology - the most prestigious research institute of its kind in the world. NIT has a treasure collection of rare Lepcha and Tibetan manuscripts, statues and rare Thankas (religious scroll painting). It also has an attractive museum and over 200 Buddhist icons. Established in 1958, this institute is also a renowned centre for studying Buddhist philosophy and religion.
